So I’m not sure if anyone else has ran into this problem, but it took me a while to find the solution to using a static page as a home page in a WordPress set-up. I easily found how to activate a static home page in Settings – Reading section. After selecting “A static page” under “Front page displays” I assigned Front page to the page I had created for my home page and for the Posts page I assigned my page entitled “Blog”. After trying several different approaches I was still having my Blog page and my Home page use the same theme template.

For each page I had created its own template theme, so that each page would be given a different CSS file to create the style I wanted it to have. No matter what style I would give the Blog page it would always use the styling of the Home page.

After a while I just decided to take a break from the problem and set the Settings – Reading – Front page displays back to “Your latest posts” and on the Blog page I just put a note saying that was working on finding out a way to make the Home page and the Blog page display properly. And after that I let it be for over a month as I worked on other projects.

Then while working on CuElements.com I knew I was going to have the same issues. This time I decided to dig into the WordPress site to find a solution. After some research I came upon the solution! I had seen this page before, but didn’t take the time to read it all the way through carefully. This time around I took the time and found one key part I had over-looked before. The solution = DO NOT ASSIGN A CUSTOM THEME TEMPLATE TO THE BLOG PAGE! It was that simple. Upon setting the Theme Template on the Blog page back to Default and reassigning the Settings- Reading – Front page displays back to “A static page” with the Front page being Home and Posts page being Blog my Home page and Blog page did as they should

Lesson learned – TAKE MORE TIME IN READING INSTRUCTIONS!

Hopefully for anyone struggling with the same issue you can learn from my mistakes and not waist a lot of time looking for the solution, especially when it is right in front of your face
